His banging ‘Sly Madchester’ remix of Welsh rising star Rachel K Collier’s ‘Poison’ caught the ears of award-winning beatboxer turned electronic singer-songwriter SK Shlomo who, after collaborating with Bjork, Ed Sheeran and Jarvis Cocker is now going solo. SK Shlomo immediately asked Simon Lyon to remix his newest single ‘The First Time’. The resulting Simon Lyon remix is a rip-roaringly moving, mind-blowingly cinematic journey, darting from emotional film-score to ear-melting drum n bass breaks, retaining the intrigue with innovative half/double time interplay along the way. “Building on Shlomo’s already strong vocal and melodic delivery, I used the teasing drum break as a catalyst to push the tempo a little and enter Drum ‘n’ Bass territory. Diving deeper into the vocals I built on the subtle Eastern vibe and brought some of the vocal riffs into a different arena. I wanted to retain some of the originals more textural approach so I employed Cello and Harp to provide a contrast to the harder more forceful sounds.
